Description
The Pianissimo is mainly designed for the new generation of short shotgun microphones and coincident stereo, surround sound combinations and in fact all kind of mikes shorter than 21cm. Easily transported, the Pianissimo is very light, robust and adaptable, with all the recognised qualities of the existing range of Cinela windshields.
- very light and unbreakable cage: constructed in two parts, the lower and upper pieces clip together at six points by simple friction
- aerodynamic "ovoid" shape and maximum internal volume around microphone acoustic sections for high wind resistance
- the primary covering is a 2mm thick 3D-fabric to provide a very good first level wind protection for a total acoustic transparency
- the central support has two positions enabling the fitting of numerous different size microphones or combinations
- small fixing points on the cross for an optional fixation of binder plug panels
- two axis swivel “SW-2AX” in standard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wrzcO3qjbc
- like all the other versions, there are additional protective covers available, long and short fur and the very effective "Kelly" raincover
- output on XLR7M connector
- finally, for transport, the Pianissimo comes with an unbreakable transparent shell made from polycarbonate
- weight is 325g with suspension module and primary 3D fabric (without fur)
- size: 32cm length, diameter 16x14cm
The Pianissimo PIANI-3-8030-2x8040 is adapted for a double MS setup with Sennheiser MKH8030 + 2x MKH8040 (or MKH8050). Due to the nature of the assembly (need for coincidence, reversed rear mic, unbalanced weights), it is NOT possible to fit MZF filters. It is therefore necessary to provide downstream filtering (recorder) with the following recommended characteristics:
- analog input filters
- high slope (+18 or +24dB/oct)
- cut-off frequency “not too high” (between 50 and 80Hz)
It is possible to record without filtering (atmos containing very low frequencies)…but in this case you need to protect the signal from significant “rumbles” by appropriate handling, or on a stand. Post-production filtering remains necessary. It is advisable to apply different filtering, mic by mic, as accurately as possible.
