DPA ST4015A
A complete Stereo Pair with two carefully factory-matched d:dicate ST4015A wide cardioid microphones. Even though the standard tolerances on d:dicate series are extremely low, a stereo match is even closer. These mics are matched within +/-1dB on both frequency response and sensitivity. Our wide cardioid microphones are capable of handling extremely high sound pressure levels before clipping occurs. The d:dicate 4015A wide cardioid microphone even includes a 20dB pad switch in the center of the XLR connector to prevent overloading of the mic amplifier. The foam design in the heavy-duty transportation box allows for fast and easy exchange of the microphone/accessory inlays.
The microphone capsule: the off-axis characteristics of the MMC4015 wide cardioid microphone capsule are totally linear, a unique quality when it comes to authentic sound reproduction. Any leakage that occurs from off-axis sound sources is still a faithful reproduction of these sounds, just softly attenuated. Sometimes a conventional cardioid pattern just isn't quite open enough. Recording orchestras or other ensembles sometimes requires a compromise between blending in the room reverberation and a more precise localization. When recording instruments with complex radiation patterns, the wide cardioid (also known as hemispheric) design covers a greater sound angle and is an excellent choice. This is the often ideal mic for recording grand piano, guitar, marimba, and percussion, or as a spot mic for groups in a symphony orchestra. Likewise, it is an excellent speech, dubbing, or vocal mic as its enhanced richness on the bass end nicely compliments many voices.
A truly flexible range: this mic is part of the flexible d:dicate microphone series. At any time, and with no tools needed, it is possible to transform the d:dicate 4015A wide cardioid microphone into a new configuration. You can combine it with another d:dicate or d:facto microphone capsule or Preamplifier. The MMC wide cardioid microphone capsule coupled with the MMP-A preamplifier suits acoustic instruments and voices with rich and open sound. For another option, match the MMC4015 wide cardioid microphone capsule with the MMP-C compact preamplifier for an excellent spot mic as a fill-in between an omni and a cardioid. The compact version is easier to position than other cardioid microphones. The d:dicate 4015A wide cardioid microphone is also available as a single microphone.
